LIFE TIME GEAR @ B-74 SHOWROOM FOR SELECTED BRANDS

between all the heavy work these days i took the time to visit good friends and checked up some new stuff at wonderful arranged new showroom B-74 SHOWROOM FOR SELECTED BRANDS in frankfurt/main, germany, yesterday evening. f***! so great stuff. AMTRAQ (Tellason, Tanner Goods,  DEHEN1920,  TOPO Designs, Rising Sun, REDS, Golden Bear Sports wear, Croots England, L.I. Sounders, FEINSCHMUCK, Kay Heldsdörfer, Rancourt & Co), Levis Vintage Clothing, Levis Made and Crafted, Otter Wax, Merz b. Schwanen, Gitta Plotniki, Scarti Lab and Blue Blanket show their stuff for ordering in a really great atmosphere. KAMI's B-74 is the right location for these brands and i think this won't be the last time. it is difficult to tell you about my favorites. but really impressing were: RISING SUN, SCARTI LAB, Merz b. Schwanen, Blue Blanket and Golden Bear. the awesome FEINSCHMUCK stuff i knew and a lot of UWE E. MAIER's AMTRAQ stuff too. most surprising was OTTER WAX. KAMI told me a lot about the different stuff they offer. from saddle soap to fragrances and beard oil. i was really impressed and i know that the beard oil and the forest smelling fragrance will find their way to my cupboard – damn good smelling! exciting was the new LVC collection: very-cowboy-look-a-like. but not traditional old school but for the 70s and 80s urban cowboy. difficult, but with some nice pieces. KAMI, Uwe, Dirk c/o MBS, Stefan, Andy ... arranged a well tasting barbecue with a lot of cold drinks and so i've had a short but really smooth evening over the roofs of frankfurt. pics | LTG

since days it is summer in germany. real summer. everyday about 25 – 30 °C with nice winds, really comfortable and smooth. beside the YUKETEN ANGLER MOCs i prefer wearing my BIRKENSTOCKS. love the brown suede colored lightweight leather and the white soles. 3 days are left before going on summer holidays to spain ... work is still stressing ... pics | LTG

some weeks ago VOLKER brought me his and RALF EHLERS new book VINTAGE PANERAI – WATCHES WITH HISTORY “HISTORY 2”. i wasn't in the office so VOLKER couldn't write me a personal signature to the book becuase it was originally packed. i wanted to wait for this blogpost till i got his signature. but he is in holidays now and i will be on friday. i had to do this post now, because i am so excited about the new HISTORY 2. in comparison to HISTORY 1 i began reading the book on the same day i got it. i was so attracted by, that i finished it one day later. most impressiv: the story about KAMPFSCHWIMMER JOCHEN BURNUS. my absolute highlight of the book. and i can tell you that the other stories are really exciting too and best researched, en detail. it is amazing what RALF and VOLKER do in their leisure time. and believe me these are not only books for PANERAI fans. if you are interested in WWII, diving and personal reports HISTORY 1 + 2 are best lecture. here is what the authors tell about HISTORY 2: “History 2 continues where History 1 ends – this book documents five previously unreleased stories of frogmen units of the 2nd world war. Their personal stories are building the columns of five moving chapters together with detailed views on their watches and instruments, using the latest extracts from the authors’ database of today existing vintage Panerai watches. back from my summer holidays this wkd i found again a nice stamped large letter from FRED c/o RW1905 blog in the post box. FRED was in the USA at the beginning of june. the letter was stamped in LOS ANGELES at the 4th of june and i went on holidays at the 19th of july. the letter took a long way to germany. FRED send me the black JOMO bandana. great! now i got the trio completed. love the design and the touch of these pieces of cotton. thank you so much, FRED! pics | LTG

just the perfect summer drink: SAN PELLEGRINO water. for me the best water ever: perfect taste, perfect sparkling – not too much not too less. beside i love the BITTER made by SAN PELLEGRINO. and just some days ago i found these nice designed 3 lemonade cans. first time i saw it in spain at my holidays. love the design. the taste i still don't know. i promised little LEVI to taste them first – i will tell you. and i love the STAR on all these SAN PELLEGRINO products. pics | LTG

this was may first WHITE'S BOOT ever: a classic SEMI-DRESS. i built this boot for my own at BAKER SHOES in 2007. it was a bit strange and very exciting because the boot was really expensive compared to all my RED WINGs and i did not know anything about the fit. in 2007 ask some one for WHITE'S BOOTS in germany: nobody knew this great traditional boot maker from spokan, washington. time changed; the last 6 years brands like VIBERG, WESCO and WHITE'S became well known in europe. but boots of these labels are still expensive and not pushed by distribution. good to know, so they will never get a mainstream products. beside, the higher prices of these boots are okay indeed. if you ever wear a WHITE'S you will feel the price of it: made of heavy and best leathers, solid and lifetime built, most comfortable – this is what i call LIFE TIME GEAR! in germany you get WHITE'S BOOTS at the BOOTERY at VATER&SOHN in hamburg, germany. pics | LTG

THE GOLDEN TEXAS STAR RING

nice to have a wife who finds things that are not forgotten but somewhere stored in the house you can't remember ... so it happened with my beloved TEXAS UNIVERSITY RING i bought more than 10 years ago. i remember the day and the place where i got it as it was yesterday. i found this piece while walking through an antique market in frankfurt/main germany with my wife. i wasn't searching for a college ring or something like this. but the ring was like a magnet. i went to a sales booth saw it in the display case, knewing i must have it. but after asking the seller for the price we went away. but i couldn't get the ring out of my head. after we were back in darmstadt, i went to the bank to get the money i wanted to spend – less than the seller rather wanted.  so i drove back the 40 kilometers back to the antique market. i told the seller which price i would pay and he gave the ring to me. i love this extraordinary piece and i think it is a good combination with my, no, little LEVI's ring, he get it when he will be 18 years old. pics | LTG

okay, this is definitely not a boot but a wonderful sneaker for me as a great DISNEY fan. found this classic VANS VAULT SK8-HI @ TRÉS BIEN. the sneaker is a collaboration style with DISNEY and features all the things a SK8-HI stands for: “Front section and tongue in smooth suede with side sections in contrasting patterned canvas. Leather and textile lining. Contrasting laces. Suede back section. Leather details on the sides. Sits on a customized white waffle rubber sole ...” wonderful. maybe they will do one day a FANTOMIAS SK8-HI - then i had to make a decision: buying or not ;-) pics | TRÉS BIEN (shoe), LTG

some times ago i wondered because i could not find swedish MR. MUDD AND MR. GOLD online shop any more. the site was gone. yesterday i found PANCHO AND LEFTY. ah, okay, this is the shop “formerly known as MR. MUDD AND MR. GOLD”. i think this will be a good thing! there you do not find all those well known heritage and vintage brands from all the shops over europe but some fresh ones from japan. hard to get brands outside japan and i think for some guys unknown. important: no customs must be paid for us europeans when buying KAPITAL, WAREHOUSE COMPANY or CROSSED ARROWS stuff. some product sites are empty and miss the stuff, but i think the launch of PAL was just some days ago. and i hope they will offer their prices not only in swedish kronen in future – US$ and euros are missing. check it: panchoandlefty.se pics | Pancho and Lefty

i got this wonderful stray BOWLER this summer. especially hand made for me by hat maker and artisan SUSANNE SCHMITT c/o SCHMITTHUT, darmstadt, germany. what a wonderful work. best fit as usual when i get a SCHMITTHUT hat and an awesome straw structure. i like the classic bowler type combined with this normally known material for other hat types like pork pie, fedora or trilby. and always exciting to watch the photos of the process how my hats were made – please take a closer look. pics | SCHMITTHUT & LTG

BEARD OILS FROM OTTER WAX AND MR. BEAR

really funny. i got my beard since 19 years. not always so full as today and the last 5 years but every time more than a mustache. my wife just knows me from photos without having a beard. we are married more than 17 years. but i never found such a lot of beard grooming stuff or styling hints and even men with beards around me than the last 2 years. 2 weeks ago ALEX from because blog send me a wonderful beard soap, i did not tried yet because of the nice look. i wont fuck this up. last friday OLLI THE BARBER gave me the OTTER WAX beard oil for testing. one day before i ordered MR. BEAR BEARD OIL from sweden - that's life. i did a little comparison of both oils. by the way: if you have a full beard i just can advise you to use an oil. your beard hair is getting smooth and bright. and it is so cool to smell the fresh air blowing up your mind straight from your chin.the package design of OTTER is unbeatable, but the closing of the bottle is really f***ing bad. after in use for 2 times the cover got broken and so you cannot close it correctly any more. MR. BEAR's bottle design is so shitty that it is really funny and good again. it's charming - i like it. okay, the bottle looks like a nose drop bottle but the idea with the pump is perfect. so the bottle does not get grease and oily. closing of the bottle works perfect. in use both oils are really great. your beard thanks this grooming to you. it gets a smooth and lightly grip and pleasant log fragrance. OTTER WAX smells so pure for nature: cedar, vetiver, pepper.  you think you walk through a forest by smelling it. MR. BEAR smells natural too but fresher. i got the CITRUS BEAR BREW. the ALL NATURAL OTTER WAX beard oil is made in the USA, MR BEAR comes from sweden. give your beard a try! pics | LTG
